Welcome to Nunoya Ryokan

Nunoya Ryokan is located in the street called Nakamachi-dori which is famous with Kura-tukuri buildings (traditional storage house), the traditional houses, traditional handicrafts shops and restaurants. It's about 5 minutes walk from 400 years old Matsumoto castle and 10 minutes from Matsumoto station. And it can be the base for Kamikouchi, Magome-Juku & Tsumago-Juku, Azumino, Hakuba. We hope you enjoy the atmospheric atmosphere of our 100-year-old three-storey wooden inn.　If you like Japanese history, culture, old wooden buildings and fittings, you will love this place.　We hope you enjoy your stay.
However, there are a few points we would like you to be aware of before your stay in order not have any misunderstandings.　Due to the characteristics of old building, the soundproofing, the equipment may not be as good enough as modern buildings, no lift to go up to 2nd and 3rd floor, the toilet and shower room is not in the same floor for some of the rooms. For the same reason, we do not allow children below age 9. Thank you for your understanding.

Our Rooms

There are four different types of rooms and one chalet type of house converted from traditional storage house. Each room has a different architecture and retro features such as transoms, beams, tokonoma (alcove) and windowpanes from the original construction.  However, in order to keep the rooms in their original condition as much as possible, only showers are available and in some rooms the shower and toilets are not connecting to the rooms or located on the different floor.

Twin Room with 2 single beds

This room type has 2 connected rooms. One room has 2 single beds. The other room can add 2 futon beds on the tatami floor. This room type would suit if you are a family or group traveler. It allows maximum 4 people to stay. The private bath (toilet & shower) is located in front of your room.

Twin room with 2 Futon Beds

This room type has a 2 single futon beds on Tatami floor. This is a traditional beds arrangement. Futon beds are folded in the room. When you sleep, you spread out futon beds on the floor.

Hanare with 2 single beds (private bathroom downstairs)

This room type has 2 connected rooms. One room has 2 single beds. The other room can add 2 futon beds on the tatami floor. This room type would suit if you are a family or group traveler. It allows maximum 4 people to stay. The private bathroom (toilet and shower) is located downstairs.

Hanare with 2 Futon Beds (private bathroom downstairs)

This is a Japanese-style room with 2 futon beds. Recommended for small groups who wish to stay in a Japanese-style room. This is a traditional beds arrangement. Futon beds are folded in the room. When you sleep, you spread out futon beds on the floor. The private bathroom (toilet and shower) is located downstairs.

Kura | 2 bed room chalet

This is a chalet type of house. You will stay the whole Japanese traditional storage house. The building is a 2 story building. There is a fully equipped kitchen, living/dining, bath room and laundry on the 1st floor. On the 2nd floor, there is a bed room which has 2 single beds. If you are a family traveler, you can add 2 futon beds on the floor. It allows maximum 4 people to stay. This is a suitable for long stay.
